Radiation Treatments
Prostate Cancer
If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, you are not alone. After skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in American men. Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it. In fact, more than 2.5 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer are still alive today.*
There are a variety of treatment options for prostate cancer. The treatment plan will depend on several factors: the stage of the disease, your age and general health, and whether the cancer is new or recurrent. Radiation therapy may be used as the first line of treatment, or administered post-surgery to kill any cancer cells that might remain in the surgical site. Some patients may be appropriate for radiosurgery, which may remove tumors in one to five treatment sessions.
